OUR STORY

A Journey That Changed Everything, it all began in 2009, in a remote corner of La Guajira, where the desert meets the sea. There, in Cabo de la Vela, a group of Wayuu children played by the shore, laughing in a language unknown to us, yet universal in its joy.

In that moment, we realized that the art of these communities was more than just colours and shapes; it was a legacy, a story handwoven into every piece.

The “Mochila” handbag is a deeply important piece in the lives of many Indigenous communities in Colombia, such as the Wayuu, Kankuamo, Arhuaco, among others.

It’s not only a vital source of economic livelihood, but also a vessel of culture, woven with colours, shapes, thoughts, and beliefs. It accompanies important celebrations and rituals, carrying the spirit of these communities.

"To buy a mochila is to carry a message: Woven HERITAGE, carried with purpose."

Our Philosophy

Kai Kashi was created from a simple belief: what we choose to carry should have a story.

In a world of mass production and endless repetition, we seek out pieces with soul, shaped by time, tradition, and human hands. Every piece begins with an origin, carries a lineage, and reflects the mastery of the people who create it.

We believe that knowing where something comes from changes how we connect and value it.

Origin

Each Kai Kashi piece carries meaning. Every technique carries memory, a lineage that connects it to a place, a community, and generations of knowledge passed from hand to hand.

What you see is not decoration. It is heritage made tangible.

An origin you can carry.

One of a Kind

Artisanal craftsmanship follows a different rhythm.

Our pieces are created in small quantities, guided by human hands rather than factory schedules. Natural variations are not imperfections; they are evidence of a real process and a real maker.

Some pieces are truly one of a kind. Others may share a pattern, but no two are ever exactly the same. That is the nature of a piece with soul.

Once it is gone, it may never exist in quite the same way again.

Hands with Name

Every piece begins with a person. And we tell you who made it, where it was made, and the tradition it carries.

From Wayuu weavers in La Guajira to artisans preserving traditional techniques across Colombia, we believe the maker should never be invisible. Behind every piece are hands with a name, a community, and a story worth honouring.

Because craftsmanship deserves recognition.
